Yeah, everyone makes New Year’s resolutions…join the gym, lose weight, eat better…and then by February, the game’s up on those. But here are some resolutions for your car you really should stick to in 2017!
Check your tire pressure monthly. Even new tires will lose air pressure, and underinflated tires are really a problem. Low tire pressure affects handling and braking performance, causes excess rolling resistance (costing you money in fuel economy), and will soon result in prematurely worn tires.
Have your oil changed on a regular basis. Oil changes will keep the inside of your engine clean and prevent unnecessary engine wear.
Check your air filter. This is a simple and easy step…your air filter protects the fuel system and engine from contaminants, but if it becomes too dirty it will restrict air flow to a point where it hurts performance and fuel economy.
Have that Check Engine light diagnosed. It’s normal for your vehicle to do a quick bulb check on the Check Engine light after you start it, but if it stays on…that’s not normal. Bring it on into Pueblo for a diagnostic check.
Get your tires rotated. Tire rotation every 5,000 miles keeps your car driving better and ensures longer tire life and even tire wear. Coincidence: oil changes with conventional oil should be performed5,000-milemile intervals too.
Wash and wax that baby. Yes, it feels great driving around in a clean and shiny car, but there’s more to it than that. Washing your vehicle and applying a couple of coats of wax will help repel dirt, protect the finish from nicks and scratches and will prevent UV damage and fading from the sun’s rays.
New Year’s resolutions are a set of unrealistic goals for a lot of us. It shouldn’t have to be that way for your car, though! Make an appointment with us at Pueblo Tires & Service and let’s set up a preventive maintenance schedule for your vehicle. You’ll feel better knowing you’re doing the right thing, and your car will thank you in the long run with better dependability and performance!
